Tequila makes you happy but Corona makes you sick. The coronavirus has gripped the world with its rapid growth and has sent many into a state of panic. Many things are being cancelled, like football games (no!) and on-campus college lectures (yes!).
That’s right, folks – my university will (probably) close in the coming days or weeks at the latest. Sounds great on paper but when you realise how much of an affect it may have on the cohesiveness of lectures, which would move online (some already have) as well as the focus of students if they’re not in a learning environment, it lowers your excitement.
I hope it doesn’t close as I have interviews to conduct for my radio journalism module’s radio package assignment. On Monday, I was able to do my first but the rest of them aren’t scheduled to take place until two weeks from now. The university will probably have shut down by then, as mentioned above, so this could ruin my chances of completing my all-important radio package. I think Campus Living may shut down the on-campus accommodation villages if UL closes. I stay on-campus so, if this happens, I may as well kiss goodbye to passing that module. I’m also worried about refunds not being issued out if this becomes the case.
On top of that, the editing software that we are using to edit our audio costs money and is available on the Apple Mac’s in the newsroom. The newsroom won’t be available for use if the campus shuts down so neither will Adobe Audition by default.
I guess I should look on the bright side – we had a physical technical writing tutorial this week. No physical lab or lecture though. Seems like the cohesiveness is already starting to go out the window.
